Bronte Parsonage birthplace of Charlotte Bronte. Longest lived of the famous literary family, born in Thornton, Bradford, moved with family to Haworth Parsonage in 1820 aged 4, spending most of the rest of her life based there. Worked as a governess mainly within Yorkshire. She was married and died in Haworth and is buried in a vault in Haworth church.

Ted Hughes, Famous Poet born in Mytholmroyd 17/08/1930. One of the great writers of the 20th Century, Hughes became Poet Laureate from 1984 to his death in 1998. Much of his work was inspired by the landscape of his childhood in the Calder Valley. He was married to the American poet Sylvia Plath until her death in 1963 (she being buried in Heptonstall Churchyard).

Dean Clough Mills. At its height John Crossley & Sons employed over 5,000 people and the site - stretching to nearly 2/3rds of a mile - was one of the largest carpet companies in the world. In 1983 the musician and entrepreneur Ernest Hall and his son Jeremy bought the site. Besides eight galleries and a theatre, Dean Clough has attracted a variety of charities, including the Design Dimension Educational Trust, various theatre companies, arts, music and media groups, and the Dean Clough artists - a 20 strong co-operative of visual artists, many of them internationally recognised.

Shibden Hall Shibden Hall. For over 300 hundred years Shibden Hall was the home of the Lister family, but the house itself is even older, first built in about 1420. Many generations of people and their families have lived and worked here, and all have left their mark on its history.
